Maintain your certification

Extensions

If you cannot earn enough continuing education credit or retake the examination prior to your expiration date, you can request a one time only three month filing extension for your core certification or subspecialty certificate of added qualification. This request must be received before your expiration date and requires a $30 service fee. This extends only your time to file and does NOT change your current or next expiration date.  Your credential is considered lapsed until you maintain.

This is a one time option ONLY.  There are no refunds for extension requests.

Those with a  RNC OR NP credential, please note

If you are in the Stage 1 cycle of  the continuing competency  initiative and  you extend your maintenance before taking Stage 1 assessment,  the Stage 1 assessment  as an orientation to the new process,  will no longer  be available to you.   Once you maintain,  you will automatically be in Stage 2 the program.

THE EASIEST AND FASTEST WAY TO FILE AN EXTENSION IS TO SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST ONLINE.
