Maintenance by Re-examination

 

Important Rules -
  • Your Maintenance Application is required to be sent by mail if maintaining by re-examination. 
  • Online submission is NOT an option. 
  • All those maintaining by re-examination MUST meet current examination eligibility criteria.  These requirements may be different from when you were originally certified.
  • This option is NOT available for those RNCs who are certified in specialty areas NCC no longer offers - Ambulatory Women's Health Care Nursing, High Risk Obstetric Nursing, Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility Nursing and Telephone Nursing.
  • This option is also NOT available for Certificate of Added Qualification holders in Breastfeeding, Gynecologic Reproductive Health, Menopause Clinician, Menopause Educator and Obstetric for the Primary Care Provider.

You must successfully pass the examination PRIOR to your current maintenance due date and during your current period of certification.  You MUST follow the following steps:

  1. Complete the first page of the maintenance application. 
  2. Check the box for the re-examination option.
  3. Mail this application to NCC without fees with a cover letter stating you wish to maintain via re-examination.  
  4. Upon receipt, NCC will send you a specially marked examination application to complete.
  5. Mail the completed examination application, documentation and stated fee to NCC.
  6. Both computer and paper/pencil tests are available.  Paper/pencil testing is available for groups of a minimum of 6 individuals only.  Click here for further information on paper/pencil testing.
