Continuing education
45 contact hours for core certification or 15 contact hours for subspecialty certificates is needed to maintain the credential. If you need CE, try NCC's Self Assessment modules.
Re-examination
Re-take and pass the exam that you took for your original certification

As of January 1, 2009, all 45 contact hours required for core maintenance must be in the certification specialty area. See specialty hour determination link on the left hand column for more information.

The easiest and fastest way to maintain for Option A (continuing education) is to submit your application online. File an online maintenance application.

Costs

Core (RNC & NP) certification maintenance costs $100 with the following discounts earned when using these optional NCC educational choices: self assessment modules or the pretest program.

Earn 15 contact hours, cost = $70
Earn 30 contact hours, cost = $60
Earn 45 contact hours, cost = $50

Certificate of added qualification maintenance costs $40.

EXTENSIONS

If you cannot earn enough continuing education credit or retake the examination prior to your expiration date, you can request a one-time-only 3 month extension for $30.
