NCC Remembers Mary Ellen Sosa, MS, RNC-OB April 4, 2022

It is with sadness that the leadership of NCC received word recently of the death of Mary Ellen Sosa, MS, RNC-OB.  We wish to extend our condolences to Ms. Sosa’s family and friends along with our profound gratitude for her long-term service to NCC.

Ms. Sosa dedicated her career to improving the care of mothers and babies. She believed that national certification improves patient outcomes and that clinical practice is elevated through the validation of specialty knowledge.

Ms. Sosa spent more than 30 years with NCC in various roles. She served for 9 years on NCC’s Board of Directors (2005 to 2013), 5 years on the Critical Care Obstetrics Task Force and High Risk Obstetric Team and worked continuously on the Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Content Team from 1996 to her passing, and she also spent several terms with the Electronic Fetal Monitoring Content Team.

Ms. Sosa’s volunteer work and commitment to certification is demonstrated in her years of service with NCC. She will be missed.
